What the Press Say

'Cumbrian Cooks do Christmas on TV' - News & Star

A new two-part ITV Border TV series is aimed at taking the pressure out of festive entertaining.

In 'Cookery School' two of Cumbria's leading chefs provide a step-by-step guide showing keen kitchen amateurs how to cope with cooking for Christmas and New Year.

The LucyCooks Cookery School in Staveley, near Windermere is the setting for the series.

Steven Doherty guides the amateurs through a traditional Christmas menu. He trained with Gordon Ramsay and the former head chef at Le Gavroche and protegee of Albert Roux was the first British chef to run a three-Michelin starred restaurant.

Dan Cartwright is the cookery school's resident chef and provides lots of new ideas for an alternative Christmas feast.

In programme two, the theme is 'nibbles and tipples' and includes tips of how to create the perfect party, with ideas for decorations, cocktails and canapes.

The cookery school featured in the series is owned and run by Lucy Nicholson, a gastronomic entrepreneur who also owns the award-winning Lucy's Specialist Grocers shop and Lucy's on a plate restaurant in Ambleside.
