Good
food, hospitality, sustenance and pleasure are what we
need to ensure the memory is recalled many times - the
food may disappear, but the experience does not. So, for
me, it is important that all these factors come to life
at Lucy’s - relishing the pleasure of
the company, the surroundings, the general ambience and,
of course, the food. Our style is very much along the lines
of ‘Sourced locally - Cooked Globally’
I hope that these are the memories that
will ensure that you return to visit us time after time
- you will be very welcome.
Puddings
are something that have, over the years, become a constant
and ever increasing part of our menu - we are, in short,
becoming rather renowned for them (as well as being a place
of relaxation and enjoyment!) Janet - the Queen of Puddings
and Sweet Stuff - is a miracle maker when it comes to baking
and creating...
At any one time there are likely to be
at least 30 puddings on our list and ALL of them homemade...
and if the ‘calorific’ content
concerns you - consider this - my Grandmother used to say
that ‘when you cut into a cake (or a pudding in this
instance!) the calories would fly away’ - hold that
thought! There isn’t one pudding that I could say
is better than any other - so, you’ll just have to
try them all...
We are producing a quarterly News Letter
from the Autumn, which will be full of what we’re
up to, what’s going on in Ambleside, Cookery course
and demonstrations, Themed evenings/events, quizzes, special
offers, reminders etc. as well as snippets from around
the area - if this interests you, then please fill out
one of our ‘Keep in Touch’ forms…
At Lucy's we believe in taking time over good
food - not the standardised, tasteless 'fast' food we are all only
too familiar with, but quality produce grown naturally and prepared
with care. The Slow Food movement aims to combat mass-produced food,
focusing instead on tastes and traditions that are under threat from
faceless production-line food.
We're proud to have hosted the first Cumbrian
event in support of Slow Food UK. An evening of culinary creation,
showcasing an eclectic selection of local fare, the event
put the spotlight on everything
that's great about food. The evening also showed support
for the farmers, growers, fishermen and breeders
who make our delicious food possible. Slow Food can help
protect Britain's food culture and traditions - click
